Sunday 20th March is the Spring or Vernal Equinox, where the day and night are equal length. This means we are going to start seeing lighter nights (yipee!)
The signs of spring are all around us, crocuses, daffodils and snowdrops are popping up, the sun has started to shine and buds are turning green on the trees. So what does this mean for your skincare regimen?
Just as you spring clean your home, it’s also important to spring clean your cosmetics and creams. Most skincare products have a shelf life and I don’t know about you but I love using a new mascara as it glides on and gives a much better effect.
During the winter months I use a rich emollient moisturiser to combat the effects of cold weather drying out my skin. In the spring it’s time to change to a lighter moisturiser as my skin does not dry out as much and becomes oilier.
As well as a lighter moisturiser, I also switch to a lighter foundation in the spring. Heavier foundations can stop the skin from breathing and appear too heavy in the lighter, brighter spring months. I love Mineralogie Liquid Mineral Foundation which is a light, sheer tint foundation, hydrates the skin without adding oil and allows the natural health and glow of the skin to shine through.Increase your SPF – although you should use a high SPF all year round this is sometimes overlooked in the winter months. As an alternative to the liquid foundation, try a powder mineral foundation like the Mineralogie loose mineral foundation dispensing brush which is SPF26. This will protect your skin, sunburn doesn’t only happen in the summer!
Put a spring in your step and follow these tips for healthy glowing skin.
